to those of you new to this little corner of the internet, hello! i know i have emily to thank for your readership, so a huge thanks to you, em, for your awesome shout out earlier today!
i’ve been working on some fun new ladder rope styles for the shop and they should be up by early next week, so please stay tuned! all of the pieces are designed and handmade in brooklyn using colourful climbing rope, cotton thread and industrial copper pipes. each style is one of a kind though if you see one that is sold out, please feel free to contact me at sepiabeauty@gmail.com - i do custom orders quite frequently and always try to source similar rope colours if i can.
as always, thanks so much for all of the support!
i got some really exciting news today, that i hope will lead me on a path towards realizing a long held dream. lots of hard work ahead but i’m ready!
i bought this lovely wool shawl on my travels through india during my mid 20s and it’s become a staple this season, after years of neglect. it’s not often something old is new again in my closet!
i’ve been messing around with new jewelry supplies of late. i’ve always loved the idea of a simple wrap bracelet that is never taken off. worn until it falls off itself after it’s battled the wear and tear of one’s daily routine. think this little guy will be my new staple.
szymon: Low-Commitment Projects (love the name): Sandwich Art by Brittany Powell
“forgot to order bagels AGAIN so i just checked mile end’s site and noticed a footnote about them sometimes having extra dozens. shot them an email and hazaa, they’ve got 3 extra sesame dozens. so i bought them all. they’ve been on my brain ever since we left ottawa and have decided we just simply NEED these bagels.”
part of an email i received from k this morning. can you see why i love him so?! montreal bagels are the best bagels in the world. yes, i said it. they are infinitely better than their new york counterparts and i implore you to go to mile end to try them! and their brisket. so, so good.
i am beyond stoked k shares my love of montreal bagels and that we now have 36 of them waiting to be devoured.
"in other news, the wind was so bad last night, there was a wind chill of -55C!!!!, that my bathroom window blew open and the cold air FROZE MY PIPES! only in canada." — -from a, who lives in montreal. -55C is -67F. my brain can’t even compute that number in celsius let alone fahrenheit. this is the one time i can honestly say i don’t miss home. brrrr, stay warm, a!

clever mix of numbers and letters.
and a good motto. i hope to be more fearless this year - to take more risks and to make things happen.
but i digress. i spotted this on a stroll through the hood. a second consecutive sunday afternoon expedition to see more of our area which involved making pit stops at a few local spots to imbibe and snack. think this could become a fine sunday tradition…
elbow patch diy
i love leather elbow patches and to think, i didn’t have one sweater in my closet with them! to remedy this little fashion problem, i did a little hunting online and bought these tan suede patches. i also found some bright orange neon thread to use that would add a little punch to this classic argyle sweater (a hand me down from k, so it’s not only perfectly worn in but perfectly oversized too!) and i love how it turned out!
the process is very easy (especially since the patches come with pre-made holes that act as guides) - lay the patch flat on the spot you want to affix it to and sew away! i found the easiest way to work was through the bottom of the sleeve and i didn’t pin the patch down but you can if that makes it easier. make sure the length of thread is super long, so you don’t have to change it half way through though it’ll be fine if you do.

this project was super fun and it cost under $20, so a really cheap way to jazz up an old sweater!
spotted on an afternoon stroll through the hood and it’s periphery -
a soft pink cadillac parked in front of a soft pink house.
things like this clearly amuse me.
yes, that is a large mixing bowl full of poutine. and it was delicious.
