last year my younger sister, a, went on a trip of a lifetime with one of her best pals - 2 girls, 8 months, 12 countries and 1 backpack each. she came home just a few days before christmas and it was so great to see her after so long but also to hear about all of her adventurous travel stories and to see some of her amazing travel photos.
i didn’t know then that her trip would play a role in part of my christmas present and that she had so thoughtfully executed such a great surprise. she made a sign that read ‘merry xmas ave’, took it with her all over the middle east and had her friend take photos of her holding it in all sorts of fun locales. she included the weathered sign with the pics and i must say, this was one of the best gifts i have ever received.
it’s a great reminder in this season of giving that sometimes less is more.
(i can’t believe i have yet to get the sign and pics framed. i blame the lack of wall space in our apartment!)
