elbow patch diy

i love leather elbow patches and to think, i didn’t have one sweater in my closet with them! to remedy this little fashion problem, i did a little hunting online and bought these tan suede patches. i also found some bright orange neon thread to use that would add a little punch to this classic argyle sweater (a hand me down from k, so it’s not only perfectly worn in but perfectly oversized too!) and i love how it turned out!

the process is very easy (especially since the patches come with pre-made holes that act as guides) - lay the patch flat on the spot you want to affix it to and sew away! i found the easiest way to work was through the bottom of the sleeve and i didn’t pin the patch down but you can if that makes it easier. make sure the length of thread is super long, so you don’t have to change it half way through though it’ll be fine if you do.

this project was super fun and it cost under $20, so a really cheap way to jazz up an old sweater!
